BBL (BroadBand Light) Treatment – Pre & Post Care Instructions
Please read and follow these instructions carefully to ensure the best results and a safe healing process.
BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
To prepare your skin for your BBL session, please follow these guidelines:
Avoid tanning (natural sun exposure, tanning beds, spray tans, and self-tanners) for at least 2–4 weeks prior to your treatment, unless otherwise instructed by your provider.
If you have used Accutane (Isotretinoin) within the past 6 months, notify your provider.
One week prior, stop using:
Tretinoin, Retinol, Retinoids
Glycolic acids or other active ingredients
Bleaching agents in the treatment area
Waxing, tweezing, or depilatory creams in the area to be treated
Use SPF daily in the weeks leading up to your treatment to keep the skin protected.
DAY OF YOUR TREATMENT
Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, creams, gels, or lotions on your face or treatment area.
Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for mild discomfort during the session.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING & IMMEDIATELY AFTER
Your skin may appear pink or red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn.
Splotchiness, welts, or mild swelling are common in the hours following treatment.
Within 24 to 72 hours, you may notice small dark spots forming—this is sun damage rising to the surface (called MENDS) and is part of the natural healing process.
Swelling can last 2–3 days, depending on your skin’s response.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Cleanse the skin twice daily using plain lukewarm or cold water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser.
Do not scrub, rub, or exfoliate your skin for 7–10 days post-treatment.
Avoid skincare brushes or tools (like Clarisonic or similar devices).
Apply a gentle moisturizer anytime your skin feels dry or tight.
Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen daily starting the day after treatment. We recommend:
IntelliShade TruPhysical
IntelliShade Clear
(or another non-chemical, fragrance-free SPF 30+)
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Allow dark spots to slough off naturally. Do not pick or exfoliate prematurely, as this can lead to scarring or pigmentation issues.
Swelling and pinkness should subside within a few days.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or hot tubs for 5–7 days post-treatment.
If you have any concerns or unusual reactions, don’t hesitate to contact your provider.
